Paul Pape and Shantona Chaudhury were successful at the Supreme Court of Canada in the case of Parsons v. Ontario/Endean v British Columbia). In a decision released October 20 2016, the Supreme Court held that superior court judges have the discretion to hold hearings outside their home province under s. 12 of the Class Proceedings Act, which confirms and reflect the court’s inherent jurisdiction over court procedure, without the necessity of a video-link to the home province.
